Helicopter engineers must be able to read, understand and follow written maintenance instructions and procedures.

Procedures, checklists, log books, diagrams and spreadsheets are common documents you can expect to work with in helicopter engineering.

2. Task Oriented

Helicopter engineering is a task- oriented role. In other words, you can expect to have various set tasks to complete throughout your day.

Maintenance tasks are usually manual, so ideally, you’ll like to work with your hands, feel comfortable using tools and have a balance of personality traits including patience, adaptability and an ability to work under pressure.

Regulations and Rules are an essential in the aviation world, and helicopter maintenance is no exception. Rules are in place for the safety of yourself, your colleagues, customers and the travelling public, so it is critical for helicopter engineers to always follow, uphold and respect aviation regulations and rules

Communication skills both written and oral are important in helicopter engineering. You’ll need to be able to confidentially communicate (orally and in writing) with colleagues, customers, and other aviation industry participants passing and recording important maintenance details.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) - Unlicensed

AMEs work under the direction of a licenced aircraft maintenance engineer (LAME) to carry out servicing and maintenance work. AMEs are responsible for maintaining and servicing aircraft in approved maintenance organisations in Australia or operated by Australian companies located overseas. AMEs play an important role in aviation maintenance and can be found in many maintenance organisations and workshops around Australia

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) - Unlicensed

AMEs work under the direction of a licenced aircraft maintenance engineer (LAME) to carry out servicing and maintenance work. AMEs are responsible for maintaining and servicing aircraft in approved maintenance organisations in Australia or operated by Australian companies located overseas. AMEs play an important role in aviation maintenance and can be found in many maintenance organisations and workshops around Australia
